microEWT

Overview

microEWT is a graphical user interface framework written in Java for mobile devices running Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME). It contains a subset of the functionality of EWT, a user interface abstraction framework for desktop Java (J2SE). EWT is not yet publicly available but will also be released as open source in the future.

The EWT compatibility means that microEWT user interface code will be interchangeable with the J2SE environment. This could be utilized in several ways, for example for prototyping, testing, or cross-platform applications.

Status

microEWT is currently in beta state, and a 1.0 version should be released soon. The API is considered to be mostly stable, i.e. only minor API changes are to be expected before the first release. The current version also contains all features necessary to build standard user interfaces but some additional features may still be added before version 1.0 is released.
